About Stephen Macklam
Stephen Macklam has long been committed to providing outstanding management support, and preeminent business acumen, to his clients in the music industry.
Primarily focused on artist management, he has delved into music promotion, journalism, and exercised his skills as an executive producer in film.
Beginning his career as a promoter in the early seventies at the University of Guelph, Ontario, an interest sparked in Stephen Macklam to connect the international music world to his hometown of Vancouver, BC. Gaining experience as a freelance writer and radio journalist for CBC, he was also a key player in the production of The Vancouver Complication, a compilation album showcasing Vancouver’s underground punk/new wave scene late 70s early 80s, and an important piece of Vancouver music history.
Later, he began work as a local promoter and talent scout for Perryscope Productions, which continued on through Concert Promotions International, and eventually Universal, to dominate the Canadian live events scene. He subsequently formed Homestead Productions, signing international recording artist KD Lang and Canadian blues icon Colin James.
No stranger to the film industry, Stephen Macklam was the Music Supervisor for ‘My Blueberry Nights’ staring Norah Jones. He is also credited as the Associate Producer for ‘Spectacle: Elvis Costello with…’ which featured intimate interviews and performances between Elvis Costello and various music legends like Elton John and Bruce Springsteen.
Together with Sam Feldman, Stephen founded Macklam Feldman Management. Today, he guides the ever-evolving careers of Diana Krall, Elvis Costello, The Chieftains, Fieh, Ry Cooder, and Melody Gardot. He continues to prosper in his legacy: bringing the music home to Vancouver.
